Social Networking and WordPress

By Lee

Social Networking Twitter and FacebookIn modern culture, the term social Networking is thrown around frequently. What is Social Networking you might ask? Well, I’ll tell you. Social Networking is the act of communicating with other individuals or organizations over some form of internet based platform. Social Networking is typically(and often wrongly) associated with young people. This, however, is not the case at all. Sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are growing at a rate which proves that their core demographic is in fact, everybody. YouTube videos receive over 2 billion views per day, whilst Facebook has over 600 Million active users, almost a tenth of the world’s population. Figures like these can’t be ignored so it is important that as a business you choose to embrace these new forms of communication and allow them to help your business flourish.

WordPress is the software I use to build websites. It allows the use of many plug-ins that allow you to integrate your site with the many Social Networking platforms, allowing you to build a following and let people know what your business is doing with ease. For example, a plug-in called “WP to Twitter” will automatically post a Tweet when you publish a new blog post. Another plug-in called “Share and Follow” allows for you to place share and Facebook ‘like’ buttons on your WordPress posts, meaning that should somebody find a post interesting, they can easily share it on a platform of their choice.

By utilizing just some of the many tools that WordPress has at your disposal, you can bring your site up to date with all of the latest Social Networking trends. Allowing people to share your website easily is a great way of generating web traffic and in turn, customers. If used to its full potential, Social Networking can be a great marketing device that will give you the edge over your competition.
